That's it, that's all

Well, as we roll into 2006, I think it is finally come time to announce the closure of WeAintCool as it exists in its current state.

I've been thinking about when to pull the plug on the old girl, and it wasn't an easy decision to make, but it is the right one. The site is well past its prime and has suffered from lack of updates for quite some time. There are lots of reasons why I haven't been able to write on a regular basis for some time. It's not writer's block, as I have an entire folder of half-written articles. I guess the underlying issue is that I'd like to start anew. I think WeAintCool is more of a representation of where I was at a few years ago, not so much anymore. I didn't know what it would turn into when I started it, I just wanted a place to post my random pointless writings. The intent never was to create a E/N nostalgia-type site, although the influence of some of the stuff I was reading at the time obviously led it in that direction. At any rate, I desire to write more pieces that don't fit in with the WeAintCool norm.

I started the site five years ago and it has served me well. As bad as some of the articles were, I do like to think I put out some good pieces now and again. We had some highlights and some lowlites. I also like to think that I "kept it real" the whole time and am very proud of the fact I never peddled a link or spammed anywhere. We never claimed to be something we weren't, and I tried to help out other webmasters as much as I could along the way. I even got a cease and desist order along the way. Best of all, though, I have met a hell of a lot of good people and been introduced to a ton of good sites I likely never would have stumbled upon had the site not existed. I'm grateful for that.

Where to from here? Well, I'm not sure. I'm going to keep renewing the domain. The site will stay be up indefinitely, as I haven't decided what to do with it. Maybe I'll have a change of heart down the road. Maybe it'll morph into something else. Who knows. As it stands right now, I plan on the 2005 year-end article to be my last official article for the site. I'll be creating a new self-serving domain shortly, but I haven't decided on the name yet. Nor do I have a layout.

Of course, if I may get gay for a minute, I'd like to give huge, huge, huge thanks to Neo and his crew for being so gracious as to host our section of the forums for all these years. That meant the world to me. I know the WAC gang may not be one of the old ABC OG's, but I did try to make this feel like home. Also, my partner in crime Rosencrantz deserves huge thanks as well for coming along and keeping the site running when I was unable to do so.

Anyways, I wanted the Evenflow people to be the first to know. I will be posting the official word on the main page with the 2006 Waccy Awards article. I'm already looking forward to what the next project will be.
